Ayurvedic summer smoothie

This healthy smoothie is easy to make and very refreshing during the summer months. Have it first things in the morning for its nutritious and alkalizing benefits, and to soothe digestive issues like acid reflux and gastritis.

Exactly one year ago I went to an Ayurvedic doctor’s office to get her perspective on a condition I was dealing with. One of the many things she recommended was drinking this smoothie daily.

I say that she recommended many things, and I’m not exaggerating. She literally sent me 40 pages with detailed suggestions via email after diagnosing me by feeling the pulse in my wrists. In this extensive report, she told me what I should and shouldn’t eat, what type of exercise and meditation I should practice, what kind of beauty products I should use and how, and even what kind of people I should hang out with more often or avoid. This is what I find so fascinating about Ayurveda and why I love applying it to my life and recommending it to my clients: it takes every aspect of life into consideration when trying to bring a person back to balance.

Of all the things she advised, the one that stuck with me the most was this smoothie. I just thought it was really delicious, and easy to make and to vary with different ingredients. Ever since I tried it, I’ve recommended it to many of my clients, and even those who had never tried a green drink before, and who were sure they would find them disgusting, have fallen for this healthy smoothie’s taste.

  • ½ cup spinach, lettuce, or kale
  • ½ ripe banana
  • ½ mango (ripe and sweet)
  • 3 tablespoons aloe
  • ½ cup almond or hemp milk
  1. Mix all the ingredients in a blender until smooth.
