Hello lovelies! It’s a rainy Tuesday here in NYC; the perfect setting to make this fast and perfectly fluffy chocolate mousse recipe, that will brighten up even the gloomiest day.
Even though I haven’t consumed any processed sugar in over a year and a half, and have gradually cut down on the amount of sweet treats I consume, I still can’t imagine my life without an indulgence of this kind every once in a while. Having dessert is delicious, makes me happy, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it as long as I’m not doing it every day or at every meal. It also helps that I prepare healthier versions of my favorite desserts whenever I feel like having them.
This chocolate mousse is one of these healthier takes on a classic dessert. It doesn’t have any artificial ingredients, I used maple syrup to make it instead of processed sugar, and it has a good dose of heart-healthy raw cacao powder. Yes, it has heavy cream too. But I’m not scared of fat, are you? (Hint: our bodies need it!). And even though I stay away from dairy most of the time (except perhaps from probiotic yogurt and kefir in moderation), I enjoy good quality dairy (ie. from organic, grass-fed, happy cows) as a treat sometimes. The quality of the dairy you use (if you use it at all) is key, both for the environment, for the well-being of animals, and for your health.
With that in mind, here’s the link to this recipe, which I shared with Latinamom.me last week. I hope you enjoy it!
Wishing you health & happiness,
